Two Wilson County Schools employees are recovering after separate house fires destroyed their homes in recent days, prompting an outpouring of community support.
Jennifer Jenkins, a longtime Carroll-Oakland teacher of more than 25 years, lost her home in a fire on Monday. Just days earlier, a WCS bus driver known as Ms. Kris also lost her home to an unrelated fire. No injuries were reported in either incident.
Community members who wish to help are encouraged to contribute to the families’ verified support funds, which organizers say are the most effective way to provide assistance during their recovery:
• Jenkins Family Support Fund
• Bus Driver Ms. Kris’ Support Fund
The district thanked the community for rallying around both families as they begin the process of rebuilding.
