A warming center in Wilson County has opened to provide safe shelter for anyone needing relief from the upcoming cold weather. The temporary site is set up at the Hale Moss Building at the Wilson County Fairgrounds.
Wilson County Emergency Management Agency and community partners coordinated the effort, offering cots, pillows, blankets, and food. Pets and families are welcome with no restrictions.
The center opened Sunday, November 9 at 7:00 PM and will remain available until Monday, November 10 at 10:00 AM. It will reopen Monday evening at 6:00 PM and remain open until Tuesday, November 11 at 10:00 AM.
Volunteer Network TN is helping coordinate volunteers for the operation. Residents who want to assist can sign up through the group’s website.
Transportation to the shelter is available by calling 615-489-9129. Officials are encouraging the public to share the information with anyone who may not have a safe place to stay during the cold spell.
