Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital (VWCH) and Wilson County Schools are collaborating to initiate an annual art competition for youth. Each year will have a different focus, with this year’s being on black-and-white photography. The theme is “What Healthcare Means to Me.” Winning entries will become the property of the hospital, where they will be put on display.

Open to students in Wilson County Schools, there will be prizes awarded for first, second, and third place in the form of gift cards for $250, $150, and $75, respectively. The art teacher whose student wins first place will be sponsored to attend the Tennessee Arts Academy Conference which will take place between July 13 and 18, 2025 at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Teachers for all winning submissions will be recognized with their students.

Submitted photos must be in a .jpg format file and should be no less than 300 dpi/ppi or 40 MB. Only one photo may be submitted per person. Due to HIPPA guidelines, no hospital patient may be in any picture. Submission can be made here: https://redcap.vumc.org/surveys/?s=FYMC4LWJ4DT4JRPC.

Photos will be judged by members of the VWCH administrative team and of the Patient and Family Advisory Council.

The deadline for entry is January 17, 2025. Winners will be notified by February 21 through their schools, with an unveiling ceremony on March 28 at VWCH where the three winning photos will go on display. A digital exhibition of the photos will be placed across Vanderbilt’s social media platforms.

VWCH offers quality comprehensive services to the community, from delivering more than 610 babies to more than 4,400 surgical procedures each year. As part of Vanderbilt Health, the hospital is well positioned to meet everyone’s needs, from common ailments to the most complex conditions.
