Update On Tropical Storm Elsa

Today, Tropical Storm Elsa (previously a hurricane) made landfall on Cuba. Over the next day or two, Elsa will make its way towards the Florida Keys and Peninsula.

By Tuesday night, the National Hurricane Center reports, “Tropical storm conditions are expected… A Tropical Storm Watch and a Storm Surge Watch are in effect.”

As the storm tracks north into Florida, it is projected to veer off to the east coast and follow up from the Carolinas Wednesday or Thursday evening and continue to move all the way up to Maine. The conditions will improve as the days go on, but heavy rain will impact many. Tennessee has the chance of getting some rainfall and winds from this storm.

If traveling to Florida, at 5:00 PM EDT today the National Hurricane Center mentions, “life-threatening storm surge along portions of the west coast of Florida.” For more information and updates from the National Hurricane Center, click here.
