Two people were arrested Tuesday morning after officers conducting proactive patrols discovered drugs and a firearm inside a vehicle parked at a local business.
A-Shift officers observed a white vehicle in the Roxy Theater parking lot well before business hours and made contact with a male and female inside. Police say they detected a strong odor of alcohol and saw alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia in plain view.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a large quantity of suspected illegal drugs, including suspected amphetamines, morphine pills, fentanyl, marijuana, THC gummies, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), and 30 capsules of an unknown illicit substance. Officers also found synthetic urine and a loaded handgun.
Authorities arrested 31-year-old Christian Bowlin and 22-year-old Marisa Cleghorn without incident.
Both are charged with possession of a weapon while under the influence, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, resale of a Schedule I drug, resale of a Schedule II drug (two counts), resale of a Schedule VI drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of Schedule I, simple possession of Schedule VI, and falsification of a drug test.
Police say additional drug charges may be filed pending laboratory analysis by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation related to pills recovered during the search.
