TriStar Summit Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, announced its plans to apply for a Certificate of Need with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission to establish a new $18 million freestanding emergency department in Lebanon. The proposed TriStar Lebanon ER will be located at the intersection of Willard Hagan Drive and South Hartman Drive in Wilson County.

The TriStar Lebanon ER will operate as a satellite location of TriStar Summit’s main emergency department. The facility will be open 24/7 and will accept all major insurance providers, including TennCare. It will include:

• 11 treatment rooms, including one trauma room
• Laboratory
• Imaging services
• Nurses station
• Support spaces

“As Wilson County continues to grow at a pace more than three times the state average, we are committed to meeting the increasing demand for high-quality emergency care,” said Cindy Bergmeier, chief executive officer of TriStar Summit Medical Center. “The TriStar Lebanon ER will bring timely, expert emergency services closer to home for the residents of Lebanon and surrounding communities.”

Wilson County, the ninth-largest county in Tennessee, currently has more than 171,000 residents and is projected to grow 11% by 2030, according to the University of Tennessee’s Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research. The rapid growth underscores the need for expanded healthcare infrastructure in the community.

TriStar Summit already operates TriStar Mt. Juliet ER in Wilson County and has seen growing demand with more than 22,700 patient visits in 2024. An additional ER location in Wilson County will provide a more convenient location for Lebanon patients who are currently driving to TriStar Mt. Juliet ER for care.

On Wednesday, June 25, TriStar Summit received approval from the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission to convert an outpatient surgery department in Lebanon to an ambulatory surgery center. The Lebanon Center
