A traffic stop along a Middle Tennessee interstate led to the discovery of multiple drugs and weapons, resulting in the arrest of two men from Nashville.
Mt. Juliet Police say an officer initiated the stop on I-40 West after observing a vehicle failing to maintain its lane and driving carelessly. During the encounter, the officer noticed marijuana residue on the driver’s shirt, which led to a further investigation.
Authorities say the situation escalated when the driver resisted arrest and attempted to flee, running into interstate traffic before turning back toward the vehicle. The officer used a Taser, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Police reported that the investigation uncovered approximately two pounds of marijuana, half an ounce of crack cocaine, two grams of fentanyl, and three firearms.

The driver, a 29-year-old man from Nashville, faces multiple charges, including possession of marijuana for resale, possession of cocaine and fentanyl, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and possession of a weapon during a dangerous felony.
A passenger, a 27-year-old Nashville man, was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for resale. Officials said he additionally had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Smyrna.
