April 28, 2025 – A reckless driving incident in a Mt. Juliet parking lot led to a high-tech pursuit and arrest on Saturday, thanks to the swift coordination between officers and the city’s Advanced Response Communications Center (ARCC).
Around midday, an officer observed a vehicle driving erratically in the At Home parking lot. The car was missing its front bumper, was burning tires, and displayed an expired temporary tag not registered in any system. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled northbound on Mt. Juliet Road.
Due to heavy traffic, the officer did not engage in a high-speed pursuit. Instead, Mt. Juliet’s ARCC team activated Guardian Shield technology to monitor the vehicle’s movements remotely. The driver was tracked as the car passed Division Street, made a U-turn near Woodland Place, and traveled southbound again on Mt. Juliet Road.
With real-time updates from Guardian Shield, officers were able to safely deploy spike strips without initiating a chase. As the suspect entered I-40 westbound, two spike systems deflated all four tires, bringing the vehicle to a stop near the 224-mile marker.
The driver, a 20-year-old from Nashville, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. Inside the vehicle, officers found a handgun, a rifle, THC wax, and vape products. The driver, believed to be impaired, now faces multiple charges including felony evading, reckless endangerment, possession of firearms while intoxicated, and several drug-related offenses. He was booked into the Wilson County Jail.
A 23-year-old passenger was released at the scene and is not facing charges at this time.
