Wycliffe Mitchell Carter Obit

In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Son, Wycli e Mitchell Carter

On February 18th, the veil separating Heaven and Earth was lifted for our precious son, Wycli e. Born on January 5th, the anniversary of his parents’ engagement, he was with us for a shorter time than we would have chosen. Yet, we take great comfort knowing that God’s plans are perfect, and our son is very much alive. Having passed through the twilight of this world, he now dances in the sunrise of the True Kingdom.

So, though we grieve, we do not despair. And while we cry, we know our tears have a shelf life. For Christ is making all things new and will soon wipe away all tears at the great Reunion. As C.S. Lewis wrote in The Great Divorce: “This is what mortals misunderstand. They say of some temporal suffering, ‘No future bliss can make up for it,’ not knowing that Heaven, once attained, will work backwards and turn even that agony into a glory.”

The service will be open to anyone who would desire to attend; it will be held in joy and sorrow simultaneously. We will worship Christ, thank the Lord for the gift of Wycli e, and together long for the day when grief itself will be undone in the light of the everlasting morning.

Wycliffe is survived by his parents, Elijah & Holly Carter; his maternal grandparents, Mitch & Jill Abrams; and his paternal grandparents, Chris & Aleda Carter.
