OBITUARY: Virginia “Ann” Gatlin

Virginia “Ann” Gatlin, age 89, of Mt Juliet, TN, and formally of Mortons Gap, KY, died peacefully on April 8th, 2025, in Mt Juliet, TN, where she was affectionately taken care of by her family and loving caregiver and friend, Marlene.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Mrs. Gatlin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mortons Gap and First Baptist Church of Mt Juliet.

Throughout her life, she volunteered at church and school and helped families and children in her community. She was known for her compassion for those in need, her faith in God, and her wonderful cooking. Her recipes have been passed down to Baylen, her grandson, a professional chef who lovingly carries on her southern cooking traditions.

Ann is the daughter of the late George Hibbs and Nima Hibbs Demoss. Her loving husband of 66 years, Billy Joe Gatlin, and her brother Joe Hibbs preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Paula Gatlin, Greg (Paula Charles) Gatlin, Alan (Stephanie) Gatlin, Steve Gatlin, and her brother, Paul (Ana) Hibbs. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville, KY, on Friday, April 11, 2025. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. grave side followed by services at 1:30 p.m., with Bandy Funeral Home assisting and Pastor Len Young officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the two special churches in Ann’s life. First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet (735 N Mt Juliet Rd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122) and Mortons Gap First Baptist Church (P. O. Box 99, Mortons Gap, KY 42440).
