Susan Marie Vaughn, age 65, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026.
Susan’s story is one defined by creativity, deep loyalties, and a vibrant, independent spirit. She attended Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), where she ran on the track team and formed a tight-knit circle of lifelong friends who became an extension of her family. Susan channeled her brilliant eye for style and aesthetics into a successful 35-year career in promotions and product design.
Beyond her career, Susan’s hands were rarely still. She was an avid gardener who found peace in the dirt, loving nothing more than growing flowers and creating beautiful, intentional bouquets. She had a deep affection for animals, particularly horses, and shared her home with her beloved cat, Jet.
To know Susan was to know a truly social soul. She could—and would—talk to anyone under the sun, turning strangers into friends effortlessly. She was happiest spending her days near the water, especially at the Harbor Island Yacht Club, enjoying the lake breeze and good company. At home, she loved nothing more than filling her space with music, playing it loud with all the windows and doors wide open to let the outside world in.
While she was incredibly warm, she was also wonderfully fierce; anyone who dared give her a little sass was quickly met with her favorite, trademark response: “Bite me.”
Susan’s greatest pride and joy was her only child, Seth Trigg. While her biological family was small, Susan built a massive, beautifully blended, “adopted” family made up of the countless friends she collected throughout her journey. Her laughter, her sharp wit, and her generous heart will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to be brought into her circle.
Celebration of Life Services
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15, 2026, at the Harbor Island Yacht Club from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
10:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Memorial Ceremony
10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Celebration of Life, mingling, music, and a display of memories and photos capturing Susan’s beautiful journey.
