Sue-Cotham

Sue Cotham was born on Monday, October 19th, 1953 in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Albert Buchanan and Dorothy Westerfield and was received Home with great joy on Monday, October 28th, 2024, at the age of 71, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Cotham was a respected and cherished wife, aunt, sister, and friend, with a passion for gardening, shopping, and gathering with her loved ones and friends. She enjoyed music of all kinds, specifically 60’s and 70’s music, and all things Christmas. Sue adored dressing to the nines, every day, even if she wasn’t going anywhere. She always wanted to look presentable no matter the circumstance and sparkled until the very end.

Her greatest joy was being “Sue Sue” to her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, better known as her babies. She never missed a moment- birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, or any opportunity to support them. Sue was always there and never failed to demonstrate how much her family meant to her.

Sue took pride in being a person you could come to in a time of need. She came from nothing and built everything she was from the ground up and then wanted to make sure everyone else had something. The heart of a true servant, she was always thinking of others whether it was showering them with gifts, love, or care. She would listen, support and aid in everyone’s well-being- always the “caregiver”. Her selfless loyalty was remarkable and she did it unconditionally, never expecting anything in return.

Sue touched many lives with her boundless kindness and unwavering faith. She will be remembered for being the “shopping queen”, the countless hours of heart-to-heart phone calls, and the amount of love she had to give to a lot of people.

She is survived by loving husband and soulmate, Ed Cotham; son, Jeffrey Scott Buchanan; sister, Janice Birdwell; nieces, Krissy Garrison and Jackie (Chris) Bowman; nephews, Jimmy Tresler and Edward Parker (Tewee) Cotham, II; great-nieces and nephews, Alexis Arthur, Desirae Carter, Hunter Garrison, Blaklyn Mooneyhan, Gracie Young, and Jayden Tresler; great-great nieces and nephews, Avery, Oakleigh, Ellie, Emzleigh, Liam, and Dawson; brother-in-law, Edward P. (Cheryl) Cotham; sister-in-law, Joyce (Bill) Jackson.

The Funeral Service, conducted by Pastor Lionel Borders, will be held in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Thursday, October 31st, 2024 at 06:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 31st from 02:00 p.m. until service time at 06:00 p.m.
