Shirley “Jean” Newman McIndoo entered this world on March 20, 1938, as the daughter of the late William Logan and Dorothy Puryear Newman. Jean left us on April 1, 2025, shortly after celebrating her 87th birthday, surrounded by her loving sons, whom she adored.

Jean was born in Boxville/Morganfield, KY, and lived most of her youth in Henderson, KY. She met her husband, Ronald McIndoo, while attending Freed-Hardeman University. They later married in 1958 and resided in Nashville, TN while Ron finished his schooling at David Lipscomb College to become a gospel preacher. Together, they ministered to many throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and Florida before settling in Hermitage, TN, in 1978. Jean faithfully served in the Lebanon Road church of Christ for over 45 years.

Jean is survived by her sons Bob (Mary) McIndoo and David (Kathleen) McIndoo; four grandchildren Logan (Sydney) McIndoo, Ashley (Micah) Walker, Kelly (Mason) Douglas and Kate (Billy Zane) Pride; and four great grandchildren Bo, Leo, Sheperd and Easton Mack. Her fifth great-grandson, Brooks, is expected to arrive in May. In addition, she is survived by her sister Betty Hancock of Henderson KY, brother-in-law Jim (Debby) McIndoo of Atlanta, GA, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members by marriage. Jean had a close bond with many special friends in the church card club, where they looked after one another. The family has a deep gratitude to Sue Ross for her dedicated friendship and a sincere appreciation to Charter Healthcare in Hermitage, TN.
