Eugene Bates, age 81 of Lebanon TN, passed away on January 8, 2026. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Danny Sellars, is 2 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2026 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery will follow the service. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.
Roy Eugene Bates was born in Lebanon TN to Berlene Johnson Bates and Roy Edwin Bates. He had a life-long career with Floyd and Baxter Amusement Park. He attended Loves Way Church but always attended church no matter where the fair went. Eugene loved running the food trucks, reading the Bible, fishing, and watching Westerns.
Eugene is survived by his children: Tina (Darrel) Graves, Tonya (William) Sloan, Phillip Bates, and Shane Bates; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Sandra (Ricky) Plumlee, Debbie Qualls, Denise Maynard, Terry (Sharon) Bates, and Ron (Donna) Bates; sister-in-law: Debbie Bates; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He is preceded in death by mother of his children, Patsy Lamb Bates, wife Francis Bates, parents Berlene and Roy Bates, and brothers Raymond Bates and Jerry Lee Bates.
