Robert Flatt

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Lee Flatt, a beloved father, brother, son, and friend, who left this world too soon at the age of 47.

Born to Eddie Lee Flatt and the late Anita Gale Flatt, Robert was a hard-working, kind-hearted soul who touched the lives of everyone around him. As the shop foreman at Corner Garage for many years, he was more than just a mechanic—he was a trusted confidant and a cornerstone of his community. If your car ran a little smoother or your day felt a little brighter, it was likely thanks to Robert.

A devoted father, Robert cherished his four children: Tori Rae (Tyler) Oakley of Walter Hill, Peyton Campbell Flatt of Lebanon, Caleb Allen Lee Flatt, and Layla-Jean Marie Flatt of Dickson, TN. His pride in his children was matched only by the joy he found in being “G Pa” to his grandson, Ty Walker Oakley.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Anita Gale Flatt, and his grandparents, Chester and Lydia Gale Sorrells, whose love and guidance shaped the remarkable man he became.

He is survived by a family that will continue to honor his legacy: his father, Eddie Lee Flatt; his Bonus Dad, Paul Jenss; his brother, Christopher Lee Flatt; his cherished aunt, Vickie Sorrells; and his uncle, Terry Wayne Sorrells. He leaves behind a niece, many cousins, and countless friends who will forever remember his warmth and his laughter.

Known for his love of 90s music and a good sound system, Robert was a man who found joy in the simple things. Whether it was blasting his favorite songs, solving problems under a car hood, or sharing laughs with family and friends, he approached life with an open heart and a generous spirit.

Robert’s legacy is one of love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. Though his time with us was far too brief, the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of life will take place at Hunter’s Funeral Home in Watertown, TN on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 2pm. Visitation will be leading up to the service from 10am-2pm with family and friends.

Rest in peace, Robert. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
