Rita Dodds Obit

Rita Glen Pritchard Dodds left this earth on February 24, 2025, at the age of 75. A service will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be from 2:00–5:00 PM, with the service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home in Brentwood, TN who facilitated the adoption of her daughters.

Rita was born in Rockwood, and grew up in the small East Tennessee community of Pine Orchard. She graduated from Rockwood High School in 1967, where she was a standout basketball player. She had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and sports. She played on the NALTA tennis team for many years and participated in the 1978 10K Bonnie Bell race in Nashville. She loved running in Sherry’s Run, even winning first place in her age division (55-59). In her later years, she found great joy in riding her bike and walking with her beloved “Park Friends.”

Rita was a member of First Baptist Church. Even after retiring, she remained active in the community, serving as a “full-time” substitute teacher at Lebanon High School for over 11 years. She had a deep appreciation for art, antiques, and her cherished cats.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Stone Bardill, and father, Robert S. Pritchard. She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Daniel) Ben-David and Jessica (Jesse) Davis; her pride and joy-her grandchildren, Savannah Selby, LJ Davis, Brady Davis, Drew Ben-David, and Alexander Ben-David; her special sister-aunts, Patsy Johnson, Mary Keeney, and Velma McCollum, her many close cousins and longtime friend Laura Taylor.

To all of her many friends, groups, and students-thank you for being a part of our mother’s life.
