Miss Martha Ray “Monk” Lewing, age 42, of Portland, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 at High Point Health Hospital in Gallatin, Tennessee. She was born on March 9th, 1983 to James Leonard Lewing Sr. and Betty Lou Summers in Carthage, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Lewing Sr.; brother, James Lewing Jr.; and nephew, Chase Williams.
Monk is survived by her mother, Betty Lou Summers; children, Paul Dewayne Monroe Henderson and Angel Lois Louanne Henderson; brother, Joe Dewayne Lewing; sisters, Wendy Lou Hosale and Jeanie Mae Williams; father of her children, John Henderson; and lifetime friend, Loyd Cook.
A memorial service to celebrate Monk’s life will be held in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Portland on Wednesday, May 14th at 2:00 PM with Bro. Matthew Boren officiating.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, May 14th from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM.
