Martha Ann Climer Obit

The family of Martha Ann Climer is sad to share that she passed away on February 4th, 2025, following a sudden and unexpected stroke two weeks earlier. Martha’s life was a testament to the adage, “The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing.” She is described by family as wise, hardworking, and resilient. Martha was also a devoted servant of God. She maintained a longtime membership of Floyds Chapel Church, where she played the piano for over 25 years.

Born on July 28th, 1936 to Hardy and Velma Sue Crutchfield, Martha spent her days in the small town of Alamo, TN. In 1952, Martha married Billy Roberts after meeting him in a cotton field and followed him around the States during his service in the Airforce. During a station in New Mexico, they welcomed their first daughter, Gay Roberts in 1955 and after his service, moved to Chicago where they welcomed their second daughter, Susan Roberts, in 1961. They resided in Chicago until 1969 when they moved back to Tennessee as a family.

Shortly after her return, Martha began work at Tupperware where she continued until retirement. After Billy’s passing to cancer in 1976, she married Everett Climer the following year, the man Billy had prepared her children for her to marry. She enjoyed many years with him until he passed from cancer in 1988. In 2000, she moved to Gallatin, Tennessee to be near her daughters. She spent her days in the garden, refinishing furniture, and with family.

Martha is survived by her daughters, Gay Roberts and Susan Britt (Edwin); her sisters, Frances Parker (Bill) and Gail Harwell (Keith); grandchildren, Kaelyn Rushing, Taylor Sprouse, Kelsey Ludemann, Connor Britt, Ezra Roberts, and Anna Roberts; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Noah, Kaden, Cadence, Joel, Lilliana, Mercy Faith, Harper, Abel, Ace, Emory, Ozzie, Davie, Duke, Evan, and Savanna; and her special grand dog, Walter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hardy and Velma Sue Laman; her first husband, Billy Roberts; her second husband, Everett Climer; her brother, Bobby Laman; and her nephew, Jeff Parker.
