Marsha Ann Barnes-Stewart, 61, passed away peacefully at home in Lafayette, Tennessee, on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Born in Illinois on June 9, 1963, she was the beloved daughter of John and Margie Birschkis.
Marsha was a woman of strength, resilience, and endless generosity. She worked tirelessly as a bartender for many years, making countless friends and connections along the way. Owning and running her own bars was a testament to her determination, and even after she finished her bartending career in 2016, her impact on those she met remained immeasurable. She had a heart big enough for everyone, always ready with a hug or a home-cooked meal for anyone in need.
A devoted wife, mother, and sister, Marsha is survived by her loving husband, Terry Stewart; her sons, Matt (Kat) Vollman and Nick (Cait) Carriere; and her brother, Joe Birschkis. She is reunited in peace with her parents and her sisters, Kim Cole and Judy Cole.
Marsha found joy in the simple things-watching the news, caring for her farm, and doting on her beloved animals. Her dogs, Brody, Tucker, Niko, Molly, Annie, and Sarge, along with her cats, Max and Minnie, were like family to her. She was known for her sharp wit, infectious sense of humor, and ability to make everyone feel at home.
A celebration of Marsha’s life will be held on Friday, April 4th at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. The visitation will be from 1-3pm with a service to follow at 3pm. In honor of her love for comfort and authenticity, the family requests that guests dress casually-just as Marsha would have wanted. Flowers can be sent to Bond Memorial Chapel, or donations may be made through GoFundMe using the link below to support the family during this time.
