Margaret Marsh Obit

Our dear Mother Margaret Susan Marsh departed this world to be with our Lord on March 29th, 2025 at the age of 88 years. After struggling with health issues for several years and as she wished, died at her home surrounded by her loving family. Although the loss of our beloved Mother is painful and will leave a void that can never be filled, the family knows in our heart she is not only with our Lord Savior, but in a joyous reunion with many family members and friends.

Mom was preceded in death by her Husband and our Father, Tom Marsh, after 48 years of marriage. Mom was born in White County, Sparta Tn. To Willie Herbert and Sarah Rachel Carter Dilldine on September 24th 1936. After Mom and Dad married, they like many others moved North for better jobs, but after just a short time there, realized that wasn’t for them and returned to Tennessee. After a few years in Davidson County, they moved the family to Wilson County, where they raised their children and spent the rest of their lives there.

Mom was also preceded in death by a Son, Gerald A. Marsh and a Daughter, Barbara A. Marsh, a Grandson, Brandon Lee Smith, as well as two Great Grandchildren. Mom was also preceded by a sister Mary Katherine Dilldine Mabe, two brothers, Herbert Tully (H.T.) Dilldine, and Robert Glenn Dilldine. Her Father & Mother-In-Law George “Jack” and Peggy “Maggie” Marsh. Sister-In-Laws, Lee Johnson, Callie Florine Qualls, Shirley Sherrill, and Betty Marsh. Brother-In-Laws, Bob Marsh, Jim Marsh, James Qualls, Bobby Sherrill, George “Butch” Marsh, L.D. Mabe, and Charles Johnson.

Surviving Children: Roger T. Marsh (Shelia) Cathy D. Marsh Smith (Larry) Wanda S. Marsh Johnson (Harold) and George H. Marsh. Mom was also survived by two brothers, Alvin F. Dilldine (Linda) and Lloyd W. Dilldine (Edna), Brother-In-Law Jackie Goodwin and three Sister-In-Laws, Delma Marsh, Vickie Marsh, and Nancy Goodwin.

Mom was proud that besides her six children, she had 18 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and 13 Great Great Grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her children, but did work outside the home in later years. But her favorite and most enjoyed job was working at a small country store on Carthage Hwy. known as Cooksey’s Market. Mom opened early for several years and prepared breakfast and lunch for a community that loved her and her cooking as well. Known as “Miss Margaret” she loved her customers and looked forward to greeting them every day.

Mom loved canning and the simple job of just sitting and breaking beans to can. She loved to be taken to Harper’s Catfish in Scottsville, Ky. as well! But Mom’s claim to fame was her much loved meal of Goulash! This simple meal was loved and enjoyed by everyone in her family and was requested often.

Our family is grateful and sincerely thankful for the professionalism, compassion, and dedication shown by Hospice during mom’s final days. The Funeral Service, conducted by Alvin Dilldine, is 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service.
