Linda Sue Skelton Herrington Obit

Linda Sue (Skelton) Herrington 73, of Lebanon TN took her final bow on September 11, 2025. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Linda was born May 16, 1952 in Batavia NY. She was the daughter of Edward P and Phyllis M Skelton.

They were proud farmers and instilled hard work and dedication in their children.

She is preceded in death by her son Clinton Jay Herrington, brothers Ricky and Stephen Skelton, brother in law Mark Reynolds, and grandson Brian Herrington. She is survived by her loving daughter Jo (Daniel) Sanders, sister Karen (Gerald) Rumsey, brother Bill (Cindy) Skelton, nieces Lisa (Nick) Pieramico, Denise (Frank) Sage, great niece, Samantha (Evan) Sage, cousin Cindy Leaton, daughter in law Amanda Cate Herrington, grandchildren John Sanders, Taylor Sanders, 4-legged grandkids Dixie, Roo, Jonsey Jones, Houndoom, Goose, Theo and Whinne.

Linda graduated college with high marks and worked as a nurse’s aid. Upon moving to Tennessee with her two children, she worked at Kroger in the bakery department for 25 years and then for another 17 years, in the Wilson County School system feeding children and teachers.

Linda was a hard worker, who in her down time, enjoyed a good Hallmark movie, crafted ceramics, participated in truck pulls, and even drove the snow plow in New York.

Linda was an avid shopper who loved a sensible Sketcher shoe and had a deep devotion to JC Penny’s. She believed in tough love but always showed her kindness through baking Christmas cutouts, and oversized chocolate chip cookies that no one will ever be able to replicate. She loved talking on the phone with her friend Mary, cousin Cindy, and every Saturday morning she called her daughter Jo. Most of her Saturday afternoons were spent shopping, lunching, and laughing with her best friend of 40 years, Charlotte Phillips.

Linda had many roles, but one of her favorites was being a mother to her children.

In the words of her daughter “My Mother was a badass, and I hope to grow up to be just like her.”
