Mr. Lewis Griggs Scott, age 98 of the Beckwith Community passed away at his home on November 26, 2024.
He was born in the Laguardo Community on November 12, 1926, son of the late John and Sally Northern Scott.
He attended the Riverview School. He served with the 5th United States Marine Corps in China during World War II. He married Mildred Louise Owen and they lived seventy three years in the Beckwith Community. He retired out of Teamsters Local 480.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Dee McDonald and Jean Gannon; and two brothers, Joe Edward Scott and Miller Woodson Scott.
He is survived by Mildred, his wife and three sons, Al (Lee) Scott, Morgan (Mary) Scott, and Dr. Jim Scott; seven grandchildren: Tina Scott, Amy Tate, Aaron Scott, Bryan Scott, John Owen Scott, JeSuis’ Andrew Scott, and Josiah Scott; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service for Mr. Lewis Griggs Scott will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 29, 2024, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Echols officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Friday from 12 Noon until service.
