Kathleen Mary (McGrane) Gast 70, passed away on October 29, 2025, in Nashville, TN. Born in Jersey City, NJ on November 27, 1954, Kathleen was known for her kind and caring nature. Kathleen most recently lived in Lebanon, TN with her family after moving there in 2021 from NJ.
She dedicated many years to nurturing young minds as a teacher assistant in the Morris School District. Kathleen’s commitment to education and her gentle approach left a lasting impact on her students and colleagues.
A devout member of St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains, NJ, Kathleen found great solace and community in her faith.
Kathleen’s life was enriched by simple pleasures; she loved reading, spending time at the beach, and cherished moments playing with her grandson, Colton Meringer. These activities brought her immense joy and relaxation.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Donald, and her daughters, Heather Meringer (Doug) and Kristine. Kathleen was a beloved grandmother to Colton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Helen McGrane.
Services in Tennessee will be private. Family will bring Kathleen home to New Jersey for final services.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at St. Virgil’s Church in Morris Plains, NJ, on November 22, 2025, at 11 am. Kathleen’s life was a testament to the power of kindness as a loving friend and family member. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her.
