Johnnie Lynn Hiter, born on May 8, 1947, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and the grace of God.

Johnnie’s life was a testament to devotion—devotion to his faith, his family, and his passions. Johnie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Hiter; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Cason and Chuck Mitter.

He is survived by Jan, his loving wife of 57 years, Jan Cason; his siblings, Bennie Mitter, Linda Hiter, and Joe (Renetta) Hiter; his children Angela (Shea) Parker, Amy Beth (Dennis) Simms, Andrea (Ross) Moore, and John Andrew Hiter; his grandchildren, Tanner (Hannah) Simms, Alexis Moore, Abby Moore, Tyler Simms, Austin Parker, Landon Hiter, and Carly Parker; and his great-grandchildren, Charles Layton Simms, and Daylynn Moore.

In 1986, Johnnie began his journey in the food broker industry, becoming a respected food broker for Hiter Brokerage until his retirement, Johnnie was known for his integrity and commitment to the industry. His colleagues respected him greatly, but those who knew him best cherished his warm heart and nurturing spirit.

As a dedicated deacon at both the Mount Juliet Church of Christ and an elder at Center Chapel of Mount Juliet, Johnnie shared his faith and kindness with everyone he encountered, embodying the teachings he held dear. A highly educated biblical scholar, he poured his knowledge and passion for the scriptures into every interaction, inspiring many along his journey. Johnnie was a man of many talents. Known for his remarkable abilities as a professional stick person artist and puppet master, he brought joy and laughter to countless children and families. His creativity was matched only by his love for simple pleasures—enjoying a cold Coca-Cola and hot dogs brought him happiness that reflected his zest for life.

A dedicated family man, Johnnie loved his family more than anything. He found joy in spending time with his loved ones and creating lasting memories. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to call him father, brother, and friend.

Johnnie Lynn Hiter will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. While his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those he touched.
