John ‘Nick’ Maulsby, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Born in Weston, WV, Nick lived with his family in Pittsburgh, PA until moving to the Del Webb community of Mt. Juliet 12 years ago where he remained a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Beloved husband of Barbara (Walk) Maulsby for 51 years; loving father of Amy L. (Jason) Potts, Scott A. (Carrie), and Mark D. (Angie) Kabo; brother of Bill and Marsha.
Also survived by 11 grandchildren (Carter, Sarah, Owen, Makenzie, Madison, Jackson, Zoie, Ridley, Christina, Abby, and Justin); along with two great-grandsons, Easton and Levi.
He is preceded in death by parents, Harold and Marie and sister, Vivian.
Nick proudly served in the United States Army for 7.5 years. He was a crew chief on Huey helicopters and served in the Vietnam War supporting special operations and medical evacuations. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal with 27 Oak Leaf Clusters among other military decorations and awards.
Nick was a gifted auto mechanic and appliance repairman and loved helping his community. He was a proud “Pappap” who loved spending time with his grandkids. Nick was passionate about golf with a competitive spirit and was known for his wit and sense of humor as well as his deviled eggs. He was also a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 2nd, from noon until service time at 4:00 pm in the chapel at Sellars Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet. A military honors ceremony will be held on Friday, February 3rd at the Nashville National Cemetery in Madison at 2:00 pm.
