John Evan Roberts, Jr. – age 92 of Lebanon passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026.
He was preceded in death by parents, John Evan Roberts, Sr. and Virginia Marie Roberts; son, David Glenn Roberts; sisters, Margie Roberts Dodd and Sherry Roberts Smith; and infant sister, Margaret Sue Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janice Stroud Roberts; daughter, Carol Roberts (Doug) Cole; son, John Michael Roberts; brother-in-law, Mike (Sharon) Smith; and many other loving family members.
Mr. Roberts graduated from Central High School in Nashville in 1952 and Middle Tennessee State University in 1956. He was a United States Navy Veteran and Chief Financial Officer with Martha White Foods. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon. He loved playing ping pong in college and later enjoyed playing tennis. Mr. Roberts was a Tennessee Vols and Titans fan and enjoyed visiting the Great Smoky Mountains each fall. He began singing in the adult church choir at age 12, had the lead in his high school musical and sang in a quartet which competed in local competitions. Mr. Roberts had a wonderful sense of humor and would always offer a listening ear. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Partlow Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. Bro. David Freeman will officiate. Interment will be in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
