Joe Howard “Pappy” Maynard – age 88 of Lebanon went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by parents, John Wayne and Tabbie Maynard; sisters, Louise Forkum, Mary Parker, Margaret Clemmons; brothers, Jerry Maynard, Sam Maynard; Nieces Patricia Clemmons; Nephews James “Dink” Barry and Samuel Maynard.
Survived by wife of 51 years, Phyllis Maynard; daughter, Tabatha Manshum; son, Phillip “Chad” (Melissa) Maynard; grandchildren, Leslie (Ross) Pruett, Remington “Cody” (Sidney) Maynard, Hailey (Ethan) Greer, Emiley (Devin) Manshum, and Joe Alan Manshum; great grandson, Brooks Byron Pruett; sister, Kathryn Billingsley and Josephine (Jim) Barry; sister-in-law, Ruby Maynard; brothers-in-law, Billy (Sarah) Warren and Phillip Warren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Joe was a faithful Christian and enjoyed watching Dr. Charles Stanley each week. He worked for the Water Department at the City of Lebanon for 25 years. He was proud to be from the Hunter’s Point & Misty Cove Community. Joe loved coon hunting with Black and Tans, being outdoors and spending his time on Crook Lane. Joe was a man of few words so when he told you something he meant it. He loved to cook and always made Sunday breakfast with the best fried potatoes. His grandchildren were the joy of his life and loved his grilled cheese sandwiches.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and nurses, Brittany and Stacy.
