James Joseph Montague III, a beloved member of the community, passed away on May 22, 2024 at the age of 43.

He was a dedicated University of Tennessee fan, known for his unwavering support of the Vols and his passion for the Tennessee Titans. Jay had a zest for life and found joy in spending time at the beach, listening to live music, and cherishing moments with his family.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, James Joseph Montague Jr; his step-father, Jim Jenkins; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Brannen (John), his loving wife, Daphne; his siblings, Matthew (Casey) Montague, and Michael Jenkins (Katie Fernandez); his daughter Emilia Rose Montague; his mother in law Earlean Chenault; his brothers in law Ben Chenault and Jason Chenault; and many loving family members and friends.

Jay will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his kind and generous nature, and his love for the sports teams and activities that brought him so much happiness. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, love, and treasured memories with his family and friends.

Funeral services in celebration of Jay’s life will be held at Sellars Funeral Home at Mount Juliet. Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 1st, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. with a graveside service and interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of Jay’s memory.

James Montague III will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
