James “Duke” Griffin, 81, passed away on July 8, 2026. He was born on October 16, 1944, to Rufus and Maggie Griffin.
Duke was a dedicated farmer who loved operating his tractors and John Deere backhoe. He enjoyed hay and cattle farming, and he took great pride in his garden. Above all, he treasured his family, especially his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Griffin; his son, Michael Griffin; and his daughter, Kathy Pryor. He also leaves behind his sister, Sandra Flippen (Charles), and his grandchildren: Jeremy Pryor, Preston Griffin (Cami), Stephen Griffin, and Matthew Griffin. His great-grandchildren, Rowan Griffin and Michael (Reese) Griffin, brought him much joy.
Duke is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Maggie Griffin; his brothers, Charlie Griffin and Bill Griffin; and his sisters, Sara Elkins and Margie Griffin.
Duke will be remembered for his love of family and hard work. Visitation for Duke in honor of his life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel.
