James Douglas “Jim” Gardner passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026. He was born on March 29, 1963 just a couple of minutes after his twin brother, John.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Gardner. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Gardner; son, Dusten (Kelli) Gardner and family; daughter, Shaelyn (Adrian) Cheesman; grandson, Lennox; his twin brother, John Gardner; brother, Joe (Shelley) Gardner; sister, Jill Gardner; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Jim honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Throughout his life, he worked several jobs, including helping in his family’s grocery business, Dick’s Food Mart. Jim was known for his kind spirit, hardworking nature, and love for his family.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the VA in Nashville, the VA in Murfreesboro, and Alive Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Jim and his family.

Visitation will be held at Partlow Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be Joe Gardner, Jonah Gardner, Jace Gardner, Trevin Potter, Adrian Cheesman, Tommy Haggard, Dave Dixon, and Bob Butler.
