Jack Wendell Whitman Sr. passed away on March 30, 2025. Not only was Jack a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, but he was also a man of deep faith who cherished his relationship with God, his family, and his country.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Nannie Lee Whitman; his sister Alma Lee Litton; and his brothers Joe Whitman and J.C. Whitman. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Whitman; his children, Melissa Swafford (Wayne), Jack W. Whitman Jr. (Martha), and Amanda Duke; his grandchildren Jessica Foster, Allison Abel, Matthew Swafford, Josh Whitman, Candace Whitman, Trey Jones, Melissa Jones, Taylor Whitman, Laura Hardison, and C.J. Wade; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years, dedicating his life to protect and serve. After he retired from the Air Force, Jack spent another twenty years working at the Federal Reserve Bank, where his work ethic made a lasting impact.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jack was blessed with a natural musical talent. He could captivate an audience with his beautiful singing voice and his guitar, banjo, and harmonica skills. His music was a gift that brought joy to those around him, weaving a tapestry of love and laughter in every note. Although his TDY (temporary duty) here on earth has ended, we can have peace knowing his PCS (permanent change of station) is set for heaven.

Rest in peace, Jack. Your PCS to heaven has begun, and while we mourn your absence, we take solace in the beautiful music you left behind and the love that will forever resonate in our hearts.

A funeral service for Jack will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet, TN, with visitation from 11:30 until the service. There will also be a Masonic service at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel before the funeral. Jack’s final resting place will be at Jones Hill Cemetery in Watertown, TN, where his internment will take place with full military honors.

In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. For more information, visit here.
