Henry Smith, affectionately known to all as “Poppy,” passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering care that touched countless lives. Though he was a master of marine interior design-a skilled trade he practiced with precision-Henry’s true mark on the world was not in the boats he built, but in the way he lived.

Henry was the eternal protector, the epitome of loving and caring for others. His handshake was a contract, a bond of trust that needed no words, and his presence filled any room with warmth and magnetism. People were drawn to him-everyone wanted to know him, and conversely, nobody dared to cross him. With a larger-than-life spirit, Henry adopted everyone he met, earning the title “Poppy” not just from family, but from friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. Everyone wanted him as their Poppy.

Born into an exceptionally difficult upbringing, Henry turned hardship into purpose. He made it his mission to lift up all children, especially those in need, offering them the guidance and support he fought to find in his own youth. To those who knew him, he was a legend-a man whose strength was matched only by his generosity. Henry’s life was a testament to resilience and connection. He leaves behind a community that will forever feel his absence and carry his spirit forward.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Larkspur Conservation, 155 Bear Carr Rd., Westmoreland, TN 37186.
