George Alexander Obit

George Alexander started playing music in Heaven on November 9, 2025 at his earthly age of 87. The Funeral Service, conducted by Pastor Kenneth Tramel, is 1 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2025 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN.

Graveside Services will be Monday, November 17, 2025 at Wilson County Memorial. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, p.m. Friday from noon until the chapel service at 1 p.m.

Oscar George Alexander was born in Lebanon TN to Elsie Vantrease Alexander and Roy Alexander. George graduated from Lebanon High School, Class of 1956. Music was always a big part of his life. He was a former member of the Cedar City Boys Quartet and made two appearances on the Junior Grand Ole Opry. He was a lifelong member of Shop Springs Baptist Church. George sometimes played the organ for the church and for the Senior Citizens Center.

George was beloved by the community and by employees of Dick’s Food Mart where he worked for 32 years. After Dick’s closed, he worked for HG Hill for 10 years before retiring again.

George is survived by his nieces and nephews: Glenda (Wayne) Weaver, Beverly (Larry) Casey, Elaine (Rick) James, and Jimmy (Patricia) Hollis; great nieces: Stacey Hollis and Christy (Darius) Hyman; great-great nephew: Nash Hyman; and great friend and neighbor: Danny Mayo.

George is preceded in death by his parents Elsie and Roy Alexander and sister Martha Francis Shelton of Mt. Juliet.
