It is with heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gary Lee Stewart Sr of Watertown, who passed away on March 19, 2025, at the age of 69 surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was the first child, and the only son born May 28, 1955 in Carthage, TN to Howard Lee Stewart and Wilma Marie (Lynch) Stewart. He attended school at Gordonsville, TN and East High in Nashville, TN.

Gary met the love of his life Margaret Ann Carter on Aug. 1, 1981, and they have Sherry Kay, Misty Dawn, Gary Lee, Jr and Bobbi Lea. He was a devoted Dad, Grandpa, big brother and friend. He loved his family.

Gary will always be remembered as a strong working man who loved and provided for his family as well as anyone else he could help. From working in the Smith County Zinc Mine, Lebanon stockyards to driving a truck at times along with his dad, engine repair there was nothing he could not do when he set his mind to it. He had a love for fishing like no other. Loved life and full of laughter.

Gary is survived by the love of his life, Margaret Ann Carter; his children, Sherry Kay, Misty Dawn, Gary Lee, Jr and Bobbi Lea Hackler (Martin) of Watertown, TN. Sisters; Pamela Sue (Johnnie) Carter of Tulsa, OK, Anna Faye Neal of Red Boiling Springs, TN and Ellen Kay (Charles) Downum of Tulsa, OK. Brother-in-law, Charlie Carter of Tulsa, OK; his aunt, Gyla Manning of Gordonsville, TN. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews from Tennessee to Oklahoma, 10 grandkids, and 7 great-grand kids.

Gary was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard Lee Stewart on Dec. 14, 1997, and Wilma Marie (Lynch) Stewart on July 6, 2020. Sister; Rita Marie Carter on Jan. 21, 2023; uncles, Careal Stewart on Jan. 6, 2023, and Bobby Manning on April 7, 2020; brother-in-law, Thomas Eugene Carter on Jan. 25, 2025; twin grandbabies, Glendon Erik and Bobby Derik Barnes in 1995; all 4 grandparents, many aunts and uncles.

Together again at last but way too soon. Our family is forever grateful for the love he shared, and the time God gave him to us. Every one of us had a very special place in his heart.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those that tried to keep him here as long as they could.

A celebration of life will be held at an undetermined time but will be updated as soon as the arrangements are finalized.
