Doris Faye Lester (Powers), 85, of Lebanon, TN, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Erin, TN, and grew up in Cumberland City, TN and Detroit, MI.
Mrs. Lester is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Lester; their son, Kenneth Lester; her parents, Laura and Douglas Powers; sister, Joyce Soden; and twin brothers, Timmy and Jimmy Powers. She is survived by her children, Janice Smith and Randy (Tonya) Lester; grandchildren: Whitney and Kelsey Smith, Bailey (Billy King) and Lacey Lester, Aimee and Natalie Lester; great-grandchildren: Alivia and Sebastian Smith, Kruz, Khoen, Natalie, Blake, and Sophie King; and great-grandpups: Ava, Indi, and Winnie.
Known to many as “Nanny,” she enjoyed crocheting, making beautiful quilts, and graciously accepted the role of her family’s seamstress after working most of her career at Hartmann Luggage, The Boot Factory, and The Garment Factory. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, and cooking for her family.
A true matriarch, she led her family through life with unwavering grace, faith, strength, and infectious joy.
A devout Christian, she was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for more than 15 years and found daily comfort and strength in reading God’s Word. She dearly loved the fellowship of her church family.
Visitation for Mrs. Lester will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, TN from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service, conducted by Brother Chad Pinion, will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial. Pallbearers: Phillip Adams, Billy King, Danny Williams, Billy Woodard, Tyler Rutledge, and Blake King.
