Denise “Spencer” Patton

Sylvia Denise Patton age 64 of Smithville passed away at her residence Monday, March 23, 2026. She was born April 20, 1961, in Lebanon, TN, to her mother, Mary Taylor Spencer and her late father, Gordon R. Spencer. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Truitt and Ruby Spencer and Firman and Oma Taylor; and uncle, Harold Taylor.

She graduated from McGavock High School, attended MTSU for three years, she worked at the Water Department, Third National Bank, Thomas Nelson Publishers, and attended Gateway Baptist Church all while living in Nashville. After moving to Smithville in 1988, she worked for DeKalb Telephone Company until 1996 before becoming disabled. She attended Covenant Baptist Church.

She is survived by mother, Mary Taylor Spencer; son, Justin Patton; daughter, Allison Patton, brother, Darrell (Teresa) Spencer; nephew, Caleb Spencer of Smyrna; half-brother, Scott (April) Spencer of Hendersonville; father of her children, Tim Patton and numerous cousins also survive.

Graveside service and burial will be held 11 AM Thursday, March 26, 2026, at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Bobby Thomason officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home.

The family ask in lieu of flowers donations may be made to DeKalb Animal Shelter in memory of Ms. Denise. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Patton family.
