OBITUARY: Clyde Ray Edwards


Clyde Ray Edwards, age 82, of Lebanon, passed away on January 19th, 2024, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Mary Jo Ann Edwards, and his brothers Herbert Lee Edwards, Roy Dan Edwards, and Charles Everett Edwards.

He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Edwards; son, Brian (Rhonda) Edwards; daughters, Kathy (Michael) Shoptaw and Karen (Danny) McDonald; step-son, Dwayne Ferrell; grandchildren, Chris (Caroline) Edwards, Kevin (Megan) Thompson, Casey (Casey) Thompson, and Becca McDonald; great-grandchildren, Daiya Thompson, Rook Thompson, Mac Thompson, Mailee Edwards, Margaret Edwards, and Meredith Edwards; sister, Elizabeth Green; brothers, Bobby (Janie) Edwards and Stanley (Dana) Edwards, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Mr. Edwards, born in Hartsville, Tennessee, to the late John and Mary Edwards, was the oldest living member of Possum Town. He co-owned Edwards Brother’s Plumbing with his brother Bobby and took great pride in his work and business. A devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, he loved sharing stories about his childhood with his family. Known for his kindness, compassion, and love for everyone he met, he will be dearly missed.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 23rd, from 3 PM to 7 PM at The Partee House (233 West Main Street, Lebanon, TN), and on Wednesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church from 11 AM until the funeral service at 1 PM. The service will be officiated by Bro. Stanley Edwards, and interment will follow at Conatser Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Michael Shoptaw, Kevin Thompson, Danny McDonald, Dwayne Ferrell, Casey Thompson, Doug Williams, and Gary Yarbrough.
