Christopher “Chris” N. Crankshaw, 50, of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2024. He was born May 31, 1974, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Robert and Marlee Crankshaw.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Crankshaw, grandparents, Keith and Lynne Mueller.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are children, Nova (Josh Layhew) Crankshaw, Aveedaze Crankshaw, Brandyann Crankshaw, mother, Marlee Crankshaw, sisters, Stephanie (David) Zachariason, Jenni Crankshaw, and Katie (John) Torbus, grandchildren, Blane Layhew and Bennie Layhew, a multitude of nieces and nephews, and so many dear friends.

Chris had an amazing sense of humor. Family and friends described him as having a larger-than-life personality. He was always the funny guy from childhood, spanning up until his untimely passing. On Thanksgiving he lovingly left messages on his sisters’ car windows saying, “I love Chris Crankshaw,” and indeed, we do! He was dearly loved by everyone who met him and never met a stranger.

Chris had an unquenchable thirst for the little things in life, like taking photos of random insects on his daily journey. He found solace in plucking away on his favorite guitar or escaping into his favorite comic book story. His interest in comics eventually grew from merely reading to creating one of a kind décor, emblazoned with his favorite characters.

Most of all, Chris delighted in sharing his time and love with family. He was most proud of his three girls and doted on them whenever he could. Chris, his girls, and the family as a whole would spend time in the great outdoors camping and kayaking. One of his favorite memories was chasing the Northern Lights with his mother Marlee. Their adventure to northern Michigan was a near miss, but he attained this cherished memory when they returned to Tennessee. Holidays and family get togethers won’t be the same without his presence.

Chris was one of a kind and unique in every way, his heart as wide and as deep as the ocean, and he will be forever remembered and dearly missed.
