Christine Mahan Bedwell, age 71 of Colorado Springs, CO and formerly Lebanon, TN, passed away on April 2nd, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cory and Waneta Mahan; siblings, Gregory John Mahan and Walter Dale Mahan and brother-in-law, Bob Harrison.
Survived by loving husband of 49 years, Richard E. Bedwell; children, Richard C. Bedwell and Crystal Bedwell (Michael) Leiderman; grandchildren, Julia C. and Gabi J. Leiderman; siblings, Teresa Harrison, Melody (Steven) Seida and Holly (Mike) LaBroski as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives that had a formative impact on her life.
Born in Baytown, TX, Christine moved to Lebanon, TN, in her early elementary years, where she later graduated from Lebanon High School in 1971. She was an active student, a proud majorette in the school band, and was honored as Ms. Wilson County in 1973. Christine attended Middle Tennessee State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in education before later receiving a Master’s Degree from Austin Peay State University. She went on to become certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and dedicated over 30 years to teaching lower elementary students—a calling that was truly the heart of her life’s work. Beyond the classroom, Christine found joy in gardening, music, singing, and shooting, and she especially loved traveling alongside her beloved husband. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation for Christine will be on Thursday, April 10th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Partlow Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will take place the following day, Friday April 11th, at 10:30 a.m. at Talley Cemetery in Petersburg, TN. Terry Bedwell will officiate the service.
