Carol Pharris Obit

CAROL PHARRIS was a beloved mother, mother-in-love, grandmother, sister, and friend who passed away on her 83rd birthday January 30, 2025.

She was known for following God’s nudges. This is when we feel prompted to do something or sense there is a need to be met – that is a “God nudge”. Her life was a powerful picture of faithful obedience.

Carol Pharris was a force. She was a strong, yet servant-hearted leader that faithfully served the Lord. Throughout her life, she touched many people as she served in churches, in the Women’s Missionary Union including serving as TN State President for five years, and with Phoebe Connections. She was diligent to listen, include everyone and make sure people felt involved and seen.

Her ability to connect people blessed so many lives and fostered lasting friendships. Those around her saw her fullness of joy, magnified in her creativity, as well as her clever sense of humor. Even in difficult times, she lived with a lasting and eternal hope. She was abundantly generous and opened her home to those who needed it. Her home was a place of acceptance, relaxation and caring where many precious memories were made with her family and friends. Her kindness mirrored the kindness of the Lord, and His sanctifying work was evident in every facet of her life.

Carol was born in Covington, TN, to Woodrow & Helen Ballard. She married Donald Charles Pharris on August 8, 1964. They served together in ministry for 50 years. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow & Helen Ballard; her husband, Donald Charles Pharris; brothers, Tommy Ballard and Danny Ballard. She is survived by daughter and son-in-love, Donna and Jim Walls; son, Chuck Pharris; granddaughters, Caroline Walls Hensley and husband, Andrew, and Callie Walls and fiancé Brenden Foster; and her sister, Jeanette Fryar and husband, Doug. She is also survived by many other family members and wonderful friends.

She will be remembered for her walk with the Lord, her devotion to family, her cherished friendships, and her heart for ministry. It is difficult to grasp the impact that her well-lived life has left. You can almost hear the Lord saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
