Lebanon resident, Ms. Bonnie McCormick, died peacefully at her Spring Hill Circle home and was pronounced deceased by the Wilson County Medical Examiner at 12:36 p.m. Saturday afternoon May 3, 2025. Ms. McCormick died two days before her 81st birthday and suffered from lung cancer.
At the request of Ms. McCormick, she was to be cremated. She was transported to the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and was transferred on Monday morning May 5th to Cumberland Family Services in Algood for cremation.
There will be no public services conducted for Ms. McCormick.
She was born Bonnie Mai Key on May 5, 1944 at the clinic of the late Dr. R. E. Key in Carthage and was one of eight children, four daughters and four sons of the late Anderson Glidwell Key who died at the age of 60 on March 4, 1972 and Lucy Mai Comstock Key who died at the age of 83 on January 11, 1999.
Four children preceded her in death, Teresa Ann Lynn McCormick who died January 2, 2018 at the age of 54 and Doris Ann Key Shockley, Catherine Lynn who died shortly after birth and Dewayne Lynn who was stillborn.
The six siblings preceding her in death were, Willie Carroll Key who died August 25, 1989 at the age of 54, Shirley Ann Key Phillips who died May 28, 2000 at the age of 53, Baxter Ellen Key Bane who died March 30, 2004 at the age of 67, J. D. Key Sr. who died October 5, 20013 at the age of 74, A. D. Key who died January 2, 2021 at the age of 82, and Gerald Dewayne “Jud” Key who died December 28, 2021 at the age of 76.
Ms. McCormick was a non-denominational Christian and was saved as a teenager.
She was retired from the housekeeping department for Quality Inns in Lebanon.
Surviving is her daughter, Martha Mora of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Nathan Henry Jr. and wife Darla of Morgantown, Kentucky, James Anderson Henry of Louisville, Kentucky, Christy McCormick Scurlock and husband Michael of the Difficult Community, Prentice McCormick Jr. and Andy McCormick both of Carthage, Misty Shockley and Michelle Shockley both of Fountain Run, Kentucky; sister, Diana Key Langley of Dunn, North Carolina.
