Barbara Jean Sims, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 92. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her son, Cary Sims; mother, Mable Lousie Wilkerson; father, Raymond “Doc” Gober; brother, Raymond Gober, Jr; sister, Betty Jo Baydoun; son in law, J.C. Smith.
She is survived by husband of almost 77 years, Charles W. Sims; daughters, Gwen (Dan) Crow, and Barrie Smith; daughter-in-law, Karen Sims; brother, Jerry (Kathy) Gober; grandchildren, Lanessa (Alex) Bueno, Michelle Smith, Tracy (Rob) Taylor, Kelly (Mickey) Parrish; great grandchildren, Taylor (Cody) Coburn, Drew Ostrander, Jakob Doster, Kailee Boleyjack, Lucas Bueno, Erin Ostrander, Nina Bueno, Caden Parrish, Gracie Davis; great great granddaughters, Whrenlee Bersch and Charlotte Coburn.
Barbara was born in Nashville, TN and resided in Mt. Juliet, TN the last 35 years. Barbara will be remembered for her love of family, cooking, baking (known for the best chocolate fudge pie), shopping, traveling, spending time with family and friends, being a member of the Red Hat Society, and playing bunco.
She married Charles at the age of 15 and was 1 month shy of their 77th wedding anniversary when she passed. She raised 3 children and lived a full and happy life. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 25, 2025, 9:30am-11:00am, at Sellars Funeral Home Mt. Juliet. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
