UPDATE: 7:18 a.m., traffic is being diverted off at the Stewart’s Pike exit (Exit 70).
A multi-vehicle crash caused significant traffic disruptions on Interstate 840 in Wilson County Tuesday morning, forcing lane closures in both directions.
The crash was reported on I-840 eastbound near mile marker 70. Eastbound lanes were closed while emergency crews responded and worked to clear the scene. In the westbound direction, the left lane of the two-lane roadway was blocked.
According to Wilson County deputies, the incident involved serious injuries.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the investigation. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews continue their work.
