Update 1-26-2026 – 12 PM
Most of the remaining outages—currently estimated at around 8179—are due to falling tree limbs that continue to damage our system. In many instances, these limbs have fallen onto service lines, pulling the member base and riser pole away from homes.
Please see below for information on what responsibilities homeowners have. Homeowner/Member Responsibilities ①③⑤ • Hire a licensed electrician to make necessary repairs. • Acquire proper permits for repairs through your city or state electrical inspection authority. • Ensure electrical repairs are completed before service is connected to the house. After repairs are complete, call • MTE with your permit number at 877-777-9020. We will schedule service restoration as soon as possible.
MTE Responsibilities ②④ • MTE will perform a visual safety inspection to determine if there is any damage to the (1)weatherhead or (4)meter base. • If none is found, MTE will reconnect the electric service to the house.
Update 1-26-2026 10 AM – Crews have gotten outages down to around 7,800. Falling trees continue to cause damage to our system, particularly on the service lines that run directly from a transformer to a home. Of our roughly 770 total incidents, around 670 are single outages affecting just one meter. This means that our crews must make 670 separate trips to repair these outages, which will take time. We appreciate your continued patience and will not rest until all of our members have power restored.
Middle Tennessee Electric is still dealing with approximately 8,000 outages at this time. For members in western Williamson County, the area has been particularly challenging to restore due to dense vegetation. Crews have been fighting tree after tree. As soon as they can get a line back up, another tree falls, knocking it back out.
The utility understands members’ frustration and appreciates their patience. Crews have been working hard to restore power to affected members and their neighbors around the clock. They will continue to do so until all members have power.
