City officials in Mt. Juliet say debris removal following the recent ice storm is moving much faster than originally expected.
Public Information Officer Justin Beasley said residents were asked to move storm debris to the front of their yards so a contracted cleanup crew could collect it. Using a contractor was expected to complete the work within about six weeks, compared to an estimated five months if the city relied only on its two trucks.
After just one week, officials say most of the debris across the city has already been collected!
Residents who still have storm debris remaining at the curb will be included in a second round of pickups.
City officials encouraged residents to watch the update from Beasley for more details about the cleanup effort and the next round of collections.
