A domestic-violence related incident has led to the termination of a Mt. Juliet Police officer, WSMV reports.

Police say former officer Kurt Scothern, who had been with the department since June 2023, was involved in the alleged incident that occurred at his home while off duty.

Scothern was immediately decommissioned and placed on unpaid administrative leave after The Mt. Juliet Police Department was notified on October 26.

Chief Tyler Chandler said an internal review determined that Scothern’s actions violated both department and city personnel policies, prompting the decision to terminate his employment. Scothern was officially fired on October 29.
