The Lebanon City Council has approved plans to move forward with improvements to a park project in the city’s historic downtown area.

On second reading Tuesday, Dec. 16, council members approved bids and awarded a construction contract for the Lebanon Square Northwest Quadrant Park Renovation Project. The park will be developed near the Neddy Jacobs Cabin, an area recognized as the original site of the town of Lebanon near a historic spring.

City officials say the project is designed to enhance the Historic Town Square by creating additional green space and gathering areas. Plans include a staging area for concerts and family-friendly events, along with expanded outdoor seating for residents and visitors.

The improvements are expected to make the town square more open, functional, and visually appealing while preserving its historical significance.
