Mayor Rick Bell is inviting the community to the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Lebanon Sports Complex (Phase 1) on Wednesday, September 10. The event will be held at 1455 Murfreesboro Road (Highway 231 South) and is open to all residents.

The ribbon cutting begins at 6 p.m., followed by football and soccer games at 6:30 p.m. Festivities will also include giveaways, food trucks, concessions, and photo opportunities with mascots Titans T-Rac and Nashville SC’s Tempo the Coyote.

Phase 1 of the master plan features five athletic fields with LED lighting, a walking trail, playground, pavilion, concession stand with restrooms, and dedicated parking. Three of the fields have natural TifTuf Bermuda grass, while two feature synthetic turf.

“These are the first athletic fields we’ve built in more than 20 years,” said Mayor Bell. “I hope our residents will join us to celebrate the completion of this wonderful community project, which has been years in the making.”

The Lebanon City Council funded the sports complex, building on efforts from the citizen Sports Complex Committee formed in 2018. That year, the city purchased the Highway 231 South property, which provided the site for the project. In 2021, the council approved Barge Design Solutions to design Phase 1.
