Lebanon Fire Department quickly responded to a report of a gas leak rupture on Monday afternoon.
Just after receiving a report of an outdoor gas leak, units were dispatched to the scene and launched an investigation. Firefighters quickly determined that a tractor trailer hauling a large dozer had struck a gas main while attempting to exit a nearby construction site, resulting in a significant natural gas release.
Maintaining a safe perimeter, crews awaited the arrival of the gas utility and Texas Eastern representatives. After evaluating the situation together, crews agreed to use a track hoe to move the trailer safely away from the damaged line. LFD crews remained in position to provide fire protection throughout the operation.
Engineer Lynch and Senior Firefighter Beazley worked to reduce static in the area by spraying water near the leak. Firefighters Demonbreun and Woods stood by with a backup line, ready to respond if conditions worsened. The removal operation went smoothly, and no injuries were reported.
With the area cleared, utility crews shut down the leaking gas line. Once the scene was deemed secure, fire crews reloaded equipment and returned to service.
