A traffic stop for a stop sign violation led to the arrest of a 49-year-old Orlando, Florida, woman accused of organized retail theft in Mt. Juliet.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department said an officer noticed suspicious activity at Academy Sports + Outdoors after employees reported the woman was shoplifting merchandise and making fraudulent returns.
During the investigation, officers found about 50 receipts they believe are connected to fraudulent return activity at retailers across Middle Tennessee.
Investigators also determined the woman visited the Mt. Juliet Walmart on three separate occasions two days earlier, which helped connect her to additional suspected fraudulent activity.
She was charged with two counts of shoplifting and driving without a driver’s license.
